History
The original 9-hole course was constructed in 1968. When the Merkel Family acquired the establishment in May of 1994, many changes were in store for the beautiful parcel of land along the Milwaukee River.
During the first five years, the family removed the three original volleyball courts and added four enclosed, state of the art championship style courts. The renovation continued with the building, as the kitchen and the bathrooms were revamped. After the interior expansion, an observation deck overlooking the course was added.
In the year 2000, under the direction of course architect Dewey Laak, the Merkel Family constructed and opened the 9 hole addition, making West Bend Lakes an 18-hole championship style course. Water comes into play on sixteen of the eighteen holes, and on five holes there are spectacular views of the magnificent Milwaukee River.
With the course and facility improvements over the past nineteen years, if it has been a while since you played West Bend Lakes, you have to come out and see the difference. Even if you have been here recently, the golf course crew continues to make changes on a regular basis, so it is even better than it was the last time you were here!
We hope to see you at our top notch facility, and when we do, we will wow you with the top notch service that the Merkel Family has been known for in the West Bend golf community!
