About Us:
Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House honors and celebrates our community’s importance to baseball, and baseball’s importance to our community. Once open in 2016, the museum will cover more than 125 years of baseball heritage with permanent and rotating exhibits focused on Ybor City, West Tampa, and Tampa baseball – involving local legends of the past and present.
The museum is located in the former home of Al Lopez – the first Major League player from Tampa, and first baseball Hall of Fame inductee from Tampa – and will soon be a home for celebrating many local past and present baseball greats.
The mission of the Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House is to preserve and honor Tampa’s unique historic role in the game of baseball and provide community inspiration by celebrating local legends – past, present, and future.
The Tampa Baseball Museum at the Al Lopez House is being developed by the Ybor City Museum Society, a nonprofit organization that preserves and promotes Ybor City’s cultural heritage and supports the Ybor City Museum State Park.
