Mission

The Spelman College Museum of Fine Art is the only museum in the nation that emphasizes art by and about women of the African Diaspora. The Museum also serves as an academic resource for Spelman College students, faculty, staff, administration, and alumnae. Exhibitions and programs enrich and enliven diverse audiences and art enthusiasts in the metropolitan Atlanta community and beyond.

Vision

Women artists of the African Diaspora create dynamic, important work that contributes to the history of visual culture. By presenting exhibitions, organizing programs, and expanding the permanent collection, the Museum makes this work accessible to all.
