120 fine artists and fine craftsmen will be exhibiting October 12-13, 2019 in Gainesville, FL throughout the park-like setting of Thornebrook Village Center. This festival is entering its 35th year under the auspices of Thornebrook Village. An attendance of over 20,000 is expected for this free event. Many of your local favorites and new faces from as far away as Wisconsin are coming to enhance your enjoyment of the show. There will be painting of all kinds, sculpture, photography of the familiar and the exotic – both as they were taken and some that are manipulated, mixed media from fused glass to paintings with additions, fiber arts, wood carvings and furniture, pottery and jewelry – some with gold, silver and precious gems to beach glass and stones. Show is laid out to take advantage of the ambiance and convenience of Thornebrook Village Square and its stores, restaurants and other amenities.
There will be lots of good food – both festival fare such as kettle korn and gyros, and they tell me we will have the best Thai food around and Sweet Berries will provide water and sweets in the middle of the show, and from the fine restaurants and the chocolate and gelato shop. Don’t forget to taste the bagels, fresh sandwiches and salads from Bageland. Enjoy the soups, sandwiches and salads of Formaggios, Chinese and Asian fusion at Chopstix, handmade chocolates and gelato from Thornebrook Chocolates.
The performers for the weekend will include Gosia & Ali with jazz, Boulware & Stewart with country sounds, The Killer B’s with pop vocals, Stava Mala with the blues, , the Dozenaires with their wide ranging sounds, The Cathy DeWitt Trio offering jazzy and more! The Barbergators will wander the ways with 4 part harmonies, , Annasemble Chamber Orchestra with timeless and elegant , the Santa Fe Brass will leave you thinking you are visiting a small town square in Anywhere, USA. Uptown Swing with their engaging up-tempo tunes, Raymond Lohengrin and his classical guitar, Middle Ground with soft rock, Susan David has a million of em, and Karl Weismantel more jazz. I think we have it all for your listening pleasure.
Come to Gainesville for a daycation to see the show or a staycation and take advantage of the natural beauties – such as the Devil’s Millhopper and Paynes Prairie. There are many galleries and shops to peruse and many types of cuisine to sample – several of which are located in the Thornebrook Village Square. Come and enjoy Gainesville and get to know the many advantages of the area. You will have a wonderful time!
