Fraud Fighting Summer in Louisville

Posted on 05/24/24 by Rachel Fautz

Louisville is ready for a fraud fighting summer. Scammers keep coming up with new ways to separate people from their hard-earned money and good credit. That’s why the Louisville Community Team is arming Kentuckians with the tools needed to spot and avoid scams —before they happen! The team will be hosting a Summer Scam Jam on Wednesday, June 5th from 10am to 2pm.

In addition to presentations by our statewide partners, we will have a special panel discussion with our federal partners where attendees will be able to ask questions. We are including topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), Bitcoin, and check washing; all things these partners are encountering in their daily jobs.

Lunch is provided with registration, and we created a refrigerator magnet that attendees and members can have to serve as a reminder to protect themselves and their sensitive information.

In August, we will host our annual drive-through shred event. Last year’s event drew more than 300 cars, and we are hoping to increase that number! Our shred event will be held on Saturday, August 10th from 9am to 12 noon. We want to give every opportunity we can to help people 50+ shred their unwanted sensitive documents and learn how to keep safe in today’s fast changing world. We want to help stop fraud, one step at a time.
