AARP Indiana 'Tours the Courthouse' in Allen County
On Nov. 9, AARP Indiana partnered with the Allen County Courthouse for the second annual "Tour the Courthouse" event in Fort Wayne.
This event opened the doors to a National Historic Landmark, and allowed the local community to experience the art, beauty, and history of the Allen County Courthouse.
During a typical week, the Allen County Courthouse is bustling with official proceedings. Due to these various events there are not many opportunities for the public to go into the Courthouse to take pictures or learn about the building's history, including all the restoration efforts that have helped to preserve this landmark for generations to come.
Thanks to this partnership, members of the greater Fort Wayne community were able to experience all that the Courthouse has to offer.
The "Tour the Courthouse" event was also an opportunity to engage with AARP Indiana members and attendees.
Individuals were able to share their thoughts and feedback on how Fort Wayne can be a more age-friendly community. More than 60 people attended the event, including local news station, WANE 15.
Emily Gorman, AARP Indiana Director of Community Engagement, documented her day at the event and you can see her experience below in a short episode of "This is IN."
