Join us each month, from July to December, for a ‘movie turning 50’ curated just for AARP Long Island members and guests, by the Cinema Arts Centre team. You are welcome to register for one or all the movies! You do not have to be an AARP member to register. Advanced registration is required. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel was one of the hottest films of the summer of 1974. Robert Redford stars as millionaire Jay Gatsby, who uses his fortune to buy his way into Long Island society. Most of all, Gatsby wants to win back the love of socialite Daisy Buchanan (Mia Farrow), now married to "old money" Tom Buchanan (Bruce Dern). Calmly observing the passing parade is Nick Carraway (Sam Waterston), who finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbor.
