Get ready for Soul Cinema 2024!
We're thrilled to announce that AARP in St. Louis is partnering with Cinema St. Louis to bring you a free screening of The St. Louis Blues - the second film in our annual Soul Cinema series. The St. Louis Blues is a 1958 American film that tells the story of W. C. Handy, and we've got an all-star cast to bring it to life. You'll see jazz and blues legends Nat King Cole, Pearl Bailey, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald, Eartha Kitt, and Barney Bigard, as well as gospel singer Mahalia Jackson and actress Ruby Dee. The film's soundtrack features over ten of Handy's songs, including the title song.
Join us on Thursday, July 11th at 7:00pm at the Hi-Pointe Theatre for this unforgettable experience. Doors open at 6:15 pm, so come early and grab a seat.
After the screening, we'll have a local Blues artist who will perform and share stories about their career. You'll even have a chance to ask them questions!
Don't miss out on this incredible event - mark your calendars for Soul Cinema 2024 and register today!
