Windgate Vineyards and Winery

Windgate began as a vineyard 30 years ago by the Enerson family, then expanded to become a producer of fine, estate-grown wines. The founders were fortunate, for they discovered that the vineyard’s microclimate is nearly perfect for growing wine grapes: an elevation, western slope exposure, and persistent air drainage provide warming in the winter and cooling in the summer.

Windgate has since become the largest estate winery in Southwestern Pennsylvania, producing many varieties of French hybrid grapes, including Marechal Foch, De Chaunac, Seyval Blanc, Vidal, Chancellor, and Chambourcin and are "planted to” several vinifera grapes: Riesling, Cabernet Franc, and Pinot Gris. 



Today, the winery bottles over 9,000 gallons of wine every year
