Portland Ice Arena opened in December, 1984, with a seating capacity of 750. During the skating year an estimated 200,000 people use this facility as either active participants or spectators. The Arena contains four locker rooms, skate sharpening services, skate rentals, and a vending/concession area. The skating season extends from July through April. Portland Ice Arena is a municipal rink owned by the City of Portland and offers year-round skating
  
Skating Groups

The arena is open to many types of skating groups, including:

- Public skating
- ISI Learn to Skate classes
- GPIHL Adult Industrial League
- Figure skating
- Women's Hockey
- High school and middle school hockey
- Greater Portland Oldtimers League
- Private Rentals
- Casco Bay Hockey Association
