The Webb-Deane-StevensMuseum promotes understanding of colonial life and its enduring influence in the lower Connecticut RiverValley through the preservation and interpretation of the Museum's buildings, collections, and grounds.
To achieve this mission, the Museum
Brings the past to life through informative and engaging exhibitions, programs, and experiences developed through thoughtful scholarship in social history, material culture, decorative arts, architecture, historic landscape, and other related fields;
Makes its cultural resources accessible and relevant to a broad audience;
Manages its buildings, collections, finances, and human resources according to the highest professional standards.
This mission reflects the tradition of stewardship and public service which has motivated the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Connecticut since the organization first undertook preservation of the Museum houses and opened them to the public.
