Waukesha Area Youth Orchestras

Mission Statement:
It is the mission of the Waukesha Area Youth Orchestras to offer young musicians and their families musical opportunities which strengthen the family bond, instill in such families a lasting love and appreciation of music, and provide performance venues to students of music in time honored traditions which serve to enrich the cultural lives of the community at large.

History
WAYO was born in 1992 out of concerns of parents that local schools were not offering orchestral opportunities to their children. Under the dynamic leadership of gifted founder and Artistic Director, Timothy Cobb, WAYO has grown to provide additional orchestral and chamber music training to members from successful public school programs around the greater Milwaukee area. WAYO has since become the training venue of choice for home schooled families and students from schools lacking orchestral programs.

In 1996, recognizing the commitment to excellence in one another, WAYO and the University Lake School joined forces to make WAYO the Orchestra in Residence at ULS. WAYO rehearses and performs in the beautiful Treiber Theatre on the ULS campus.
