A lthough there are museums and attractions throughout the state that contain antique cars, there is not one true antique automobile museum in all of New Jersey. All museums are a necessity, for they play a vital role in the nations educational system. They add a more tangible dimension to what can be learned from sitting in a classroom, or from watching TV. Our goals are to not only bring antique cars to a central viewing place, but to also preserve history, share that history and take pride in a history that truly encouraged and shaped growth in this country.
P lans for the museum include programs to enrich the lives of students of all grade levels. The automobile is an extraordinarily rich object, embracing science, mathematics, history, foreign languages, aesthetics, and civil and social issues. Students, scouts, community groups, and special audiences will benefit from our programs. Hands on exhibits will be developed for all age groups.
F or the adult population we will have lecture series, such as the history of the automobile, car collecting, racing, and the impact of the automobile on society. We will also sponsor workshops that will provide fundamental knowledge about the parts of a car, how it works, and basic maintenance techniques.
The Vintage Automobile Club of Ocean County was formed in 1969 as a non profit organization. The museum, just as the club would be run as a non profit, educational, and community minded entity. We are not simply planning to build an old car parking lot. Our plan is to put together an automotive heritage and preservation program.
Tax deductible donations to the Vintage Automobile Museum of New Jersey are now being accepted. For more information, please call or write the phone and address below.
