About:
Music For Youth. Music For Life!
The Vermont Youth Orchestra Association develops young people as artists, citizens, and leaders through the shared pursuit of musical excellence. With nearly 300 orchestra and chorus members, the VYOA is our region’s premier orchestra and chorus program offering young musicians exceptional performance and music learning opportunities. By providing instrumental and choral experiences for students of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds, the VYOA lays the groundwork for students to pursue a lifelong engagement with classical music. All of our students leave the VYOA with a respect for music, for learning, and for the arts, attributes that will enhance and inform their adult lives in communities beyond the VYOA.
The VYOA offers young musicians three orchestras, two choruses, a beginning string ensemble, music theory training, and summer camp opportunities; all are bases in our beautiful home the Elley-Long Music Center at Saint Michael’s College. VYOA musicians range in grades 1 through 12 and hail from eleven Vermont counties and bordering states. During the 2014-15 season the VYOA will present over 30 performances at the Elley-Long Music Center, the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, and schools throughout the state. Attend a concert to see and hear why the VYOA is one of the top youth organizations in the country!
