Ulmer Hall is equipped with a Spitz Laboratories, Inc Model A4 Planetarium. The planetarium has a 30 ft. dome, which displays the celestial sphere simulating the night sky for all seasons. The display includes the Sun, the Moon, the visivle planets, most stars visible to the naked eye with their correct relative magnitude of brightness, the Milky Way Galaxy (our galaxy), the Andromeda Galaxy, the Praesepe Cluster, and the Magellanic Clouds. The planetarium displays the correct position and motion of the visible planets within our solar system (Mecury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn) relative to the background stars.

Planetarium shows range from introductory programs, which are designed to familiarize one with the night sky (locations of stars and constellations), to more advanced programs where one can learn more about astronomy and astrophysics.

Maximum seating capacity for planetarium shows is about 60 people. Programs are provided free upon request.
