About Us
Local artists and other community leaders founded the Santa Cruz Valley Art Association (SCVAA) in 1963. In 1972 SCVAA built and dedicated the Tubac Center of the Arts (TCA). Since that time, TCA has provided a venue for encouraging and attracting artistic activity. As the Valley's most inclusive and comprehensive arts organization, TCA has grown to meet the growing needs of the area. It now houses three galleries with over 3500 square feet of wheelchair accessible exhibit space, a Members' Gallery, a performance stage, Art Library, Gallery Shop, and office space.
From September to May, the Center sponsors a variety of member artist, regional and national exhibits, a performing arts series, art and cultural workshops for adults and children, an adult choral group - "The Tubac Singers," and several benefit events. During the summer, TCA offers a month-long SummerArts Program that culminates in July with a reception, exhibit and performances. TCA works closely with schools, regional arts organizations, and elderly care centers to provide special events and activities at the Center and in the communities we serve. Each year more than 35,000 visitors participate in TCA programs.
TCA is located in the historic artist community of Tubac, AZ, about 40 miles south of Tucson and 17 miles north of Nogales off Interstate 19. Nestled in a beautiful Sonoran Desert valley between the Tumacacori, Santa Rita and San Cayetano Mountains, Tubac offers much to its visitors - recreation, lodging, restaurants, galleries, shops and working artists' studios, The Tubac Presidio State Historic Park, and the Tumacacori National Historical Monument.
