About Us
Since 1954 Trumps Orchard, in Faribault, Minnesota, has been offering some of the best apples and produce found throughout Southern Minnesota. As members of the Minnesota Apple Growers Association and Minnesota Grown, we have always taken pride in the quality of our home grown products. We pay special attention during harvest season to ensure that our apples and all of our produce are picked at the proper time for peak ripeness, sweetness, coloring, and taste.
Family owned and operated, our orchard at Trumps boasts 75 acres of beautiful land overflowing with 19 different varieties of apple trees, as well as more than 2,200 grape vines, pumpkin vines, other fruit trees, and more.
History
In 1954, Herman and Eileen Trump purchased a few acres of apple trees from an existing apple orchard, known as the old Andrews Nursery. Converting an old garage into a storefront, they made a-go of their new business - Trumps Orchard. In 1989 their dream really blossomed with the construction of a new store.
Throughout the years Trumps Orchard has become quite popular, allowing us to expand with more acreage and products. Today our orchard operates with approximately 75 acres that contain 19 different varieties of apple trees, including apples that are said to be the future of Minnesota fruit - Honeycrisp, SweeTango, and Zestar apples. About 65% of our Minnesota grown apples get shipped to sell at different grocery stores, while the rest are sold on-site fresh off the tree!
While the offerings at Trumps have evolved, ownership continues to be a family affair. Now owned and operated by Todd and Joyce Trump (2nd generation) and Scott and Chrissy Trump (3rd generation). Beyond that, the future remains bright as Brendan, Damon and Kaitlyn Trump (4th generation) enjoy helping wherever needed as they begin to learn the ropes of the business!
In addition to apples and pumpkins, in 2006 and 2007 our family planted and began managing 2,200 vines of wine grapes. Our grape vines produced about 27,000 lbs of grapes for a local winery in 2012; which in-turn used the grapes to make 10,000 bottles of wine.
When you're in the market for off-the-tree apples, plums, or pears make Trumps Orchard your first stop! As long-standing residents and business owners we are well-known and respected throughout the community of Faribault, and we generously donate many apples to our local food shelf.
