Open: Year Round
Wolf Creek's History
The Winery at Wolf Creek was founded in 1980 by Andrew Wineberg on the property of his parents Melvin and Harriet Wineberg. The initial 10 acres of vineyard were planted at the base of the hill below the winery and another two acres were planted on top of the hill south of the winery. The first vineyard was planted with Cayuga White, Seyval, Vignoles, Dechaunac, Chancellor, Leon Millot, and Vidal.
In 1984 the winery's original cellar was blasted (with dynamite) into the rocky hillside where the winery is currently located. The original tasting room was located at the back of the cellar (now an office). The bar was made of two barrels, and a single picnic table provided the only seating. The first bottle of wine was sold in June of 1985. The first three wines released were Seyval, Vignoles, and Sweet Revenge.
The winery continued to grow and add to its selection of estate grown wines until Andrew Wineberg's untimely death in June of 2000.
The winery operation was then purchased by long-time vineyard manager Andy Troutman and his wife Deanna in June of  2002. Since then the winery has  expanded production and vineyard acreage, and continues to offer a selection of mostly Ohio-grown wines. Much of the original hillside vineyards have been replanted with European grape varieties such as Cabernet Franc, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Muscat, and Pinot Noir.
