The Swash Improv

109 Mendenhall
Greenville, NC 27858

Your SWASH was first created just a few years in 2003 by Corey Brown. Corey Brown has moved onto Chapel Hill Improv, teaching classes to the Dirty South Improv and performs long-form improvisation for the "Mr. Diplomat".

Corey did not know at the time that his passion for improvisation (Improv) would, in the future, impact the campus of East Carolina University. After a semester, Corey graduated ECU and left his SWASH to Mike Schmitt, who carried the group until December '04. When Mike graduated, he went straight to Chicago, #1 hub of improvisation. Mike studies improvisation at Improv Olympic where stars like Andy Dick, Chris Farley, Horatio Sanz, Andy Richter, and Mike Myers have started their successful comedic career.

Before Mike left, he appointed Katlyn Wyllie as his successor and Thomas James Walker as the Improv captain. With the power of Improv and public relations, the two have made SWASH into a regular house-hold name on campus. The group co-sponsored a stand-up comedian contest on campus, "It's Your Line," playing from the Improv game name, "Whose Line is it Anyway?" which the story was published and advertised in the October volume of the Mixer. The group hoped to jump-start the comedy world with a different kind of comedy, stand-up, and awaken East Carolina to every type of comedy available to them for free or little cost.
