About Us:

As a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) community supported charitable organization, The Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center has a mission to become a cultural center serving the South Shore Community and furthering the revitalization of Patchogue. We are only one of three Art House Cinemas in Suffolk County and only one of two Media Arts Centers.

Since October 2011, close to 14,000 patrons have joined us to see world-class films, participate in discussions with filmmakers and to enjoy music and comedy at The Plaza Cinema and Media Arts Center.

Our Guest Speaker Events give our patrons the opportunity to engage in a dialogue with filmmakers and actors, or people raising awareness about a particular issue or a cause.

The Plaza Discussion Series is a collaboration with faculty at St. Joseph’s College. Participating faculty facilitate one of our regular films relevant to their field of study. Bringing students and general public together creates an educational and stimulating forum for dialogue and discussion.

The Plaza Cinema Club is s partnership with Patchogue-Medford High School. Post-screening discussions are conducted by students. The club, free to the general public, is designed for the film enthusiast and those who would like to learn more about the story and structure of motion pictures. Films are chosen for their unique qualities and influences in cinema and society.

In addition to our world-class Films, Live Music events and Stand-up Comedy we show filmed Operas, Ballets, Symphonies and Rock Concerts from the world stage.

The Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center is expanding its programming to include classes in all aspects of filmmaking. We are working with schools and other stakeholders to provide children and teens Media Literacy workshops and Film In Education programs.

FUNDING: As a non-profit organization we depend on donations and grants from local, federal and state governments, as well as from individual donors, foundations, and partnership agreements.
