The Masque Mission Statement:
The purpose of The Masque shall be to develop the creative potential of the young people of Southeastern Minnesota through active participation in a youth theatre which recognizes, respects and nurtures their growth and encourages the development of social relationships with all age groups through the theatre arts experience.
The Masque is based on a philosophy of strong student involvement in every aspect of the theatre. Students perform in shows, teach classes, serve on the play selection committee, hold two positions on the Masque Board of Directors, serve as assistant directors and stage managers on productions, and at times even write and direct shows. They are also involved in lighting and sound control, building sets, and constructing costumes.
Since its beginning, the Masque has maintained three troupes. They are the Masque Storytellers, Masque Mimes, and Masque Puppeteers. These troupes meet every Tuesday for an hour and a half, year round, calling extra rehearsals if necessary. They are our way of taking some of the young people and putting them in smaller groups where they can build their skills together. The troupes tour all over southeastern Minnesota. If you are interested in hiring the troupes, contact the Masque.
