Now under new ownership, The Hills Golf Club at McKendree University features some of the finest greens in Southern Illinois. Our staff welcomes public play as well as McKendree University students, faculty and staff. Whether you're a low handicap golfer or a new golfer about to play your first round, The Hills Golf Club at McKendree University features 18 holes that will provide a challenge to every golfer. (If you are a veteran golfer that has played Southern Illinois courses, you may recognize our former name "Locust Hills Golf Club")
The front nine layout requires proper club selection. Uphill and downhill lies along with several doglegs will make you think twice about your club choice. Accuracy with drivers and approach shots is of the utmost importance.
As the you turn from the front nine to the back nine, switch your focus from accuracy to distance. Although the tenth hole appears to be a docile par 3, golfers of all abilities are often fooled by the upper level winds and wind up encountering the front bunker. Once past this short hole, you can hit it hard to improve scoring opportunities. What better way to finish a round than our challenging 18th hole! The last hole before the clubhouse requires a blind, uphill drive protected by a lateral hazard that runs the entire right side of the fairway. The long, narrow green is protected by sand and water.
