Cellar Facts
Established in 1993 in the Western North Carolina Mountain community of Banner Elk, The Art Cellar Gallery, began as a lifelong vision of Pamela McKay. Having grown up here she appreciates and understands the correlation between the beauty of North Carolina's natural environment and the artistic inspiration it gives area artists. Constantly envisioning a gallery of her own, she sought to concentrate on showing the artwork of artists who were indigenous to the immediate region. It was with this focus that the Art Cellar Gallery became a reality.
After twelve years the gallery continues to offer the artwork of some of the areas most reknowned artists, and reaches throughout the southeast and nationally to present an exciting selection of acclaimed artists working in a broad range of styles and mediums. From primitive to realistic, impressionistic to abstract, The Art Cellar Gallery features fine quality artwork by both established and emerging artists, that is unlike anywhere else in the Southeast.
There is a passion-driven element to our presentation; passion for style, passion for the artist, and passion towards each piece entering the gallery space. Our passion for substance in artwork propels our quest for knowledge and expertise in the artistic field as well. Our focus as an exhibition gallery, brings an engaging selection of featured artwork throughout the summer season, allowing clients to experience a body of work by a favorite artist, or be introduced to someone new. The exhibitions also offer the artists we represent a chance to cultivate their individual oeuvres.
The Art Cellar Gallery provides its clients with a relaxed and comfortable exhibition space, in which to select art which will become a treasured addition to their collections, large or small. We also provide corporate and private consulting and placement, as well as purchase on approval and payment options. Our in house Frame Shop, provides museum quality conservation framing services, consultation and other specialty custom framing services.
The Art Cellar Gallery’s focus is on presenting exciting, quality artwork, in a variety of mediums, and styles. Our focus begins with local artists, but we reach throughout the Southern region to present art which reflects the diverse talent that our region offers. In the review process we look at the overall impression of the artwork, and it’s quality; along with how the artwork relates to work currently represented. We also base decisions on our perceived ability to successfully represent the artwork.Cellar Facts.
