The Superior Ice Arena opened December 4, 1989, and was built in cooperation with the City of Superior. The arena replaced the old Municipal Rink, or "Muni" as it was called by those who skated there. The arena has an olympic size sheet of ice, a dryland training area, seven locker rooms, a concession stand, snack and beverage vending machines, heated viewing in the lobby and a meeting room that can accommodate meetings or classroom situations.
The arena is privately owned solely by the Superior Amateur Hockey Association and is one of the cleanest and most up-to-date facilities in the Midwest and Canada. During the months of October thru March, the Superior Amateur Hockey Association runs its youth hockey program, one that has contributed over the years to the many State Championships won by its member teams, and ultimately by the Superior Senior High School Spartan Boys and Girls Hockey teams. The Superior Ice Arena is the winter home of the Superior Senior High Spartan Girls Hockey Team, one of the first WIAA sanctioned girls high school teams in the State of Wisconsin.
The Superior Ice Arena offers clinics for skaters and goalies during the summer months, and is available for rentals throughout the year.
The Superior Ice Arena invites you to visit its website, and looks forward to serving your skating needs. Please feel free to call the arena during normal business hours or leaving a message on the answering system if you have an interest in renting ice.
