Fishing Lake Granby
Fishing Lake Granby offers the opportunity to catch a great variety of fish. Some sport fish are rainbow trout, mackinaw trout, and salmon. Enjoy fishing tournaments or a father-son fishing trip at Granby Lake.
Lake Granby is a feature of the Colorado-Big Thompson Project and is on the Colorado River near Granby, Colorado. Some of the developments include 260 campsites and 3 boat-launch ramps for easy access to camping or boating.
Total water surface available for any type of water sport is approximately 7,250 surface acres which is in fact making it the second largest body of water in Colorado. The most favorite recreation activities are power and sail boating, fishing, and camping.
With beautiful surroundings and pleanty of water, fishing Granby Lake is a favorite past time.
Ice Fishing
In addition to ice fishing at Granby Lake, there are numerous ice fishing contests each winter that take place on the frozen waters of the lakes and reservoirs of Grand County, boasting some of the largest lake trout in the state.Even though Grand Lake is Colorado’s largest natural lake and is popular for ice fishing, Lake Granby is where one can find the best ice fishing action. It is the second largest lake (reservoir) in Colorado, over 10 miles long and 42 miles of shoreline and a high pool of 8,280 feet, and is famously known for its Mackinaw Lake Trout fishing.
Other species you can expect to catch ice fishing in Lake Granby include Kokanee Salmon, Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout and Brook Trout. Every year, ice fishermen flock to Grand County to experience the annual Three Lakes Grand Fishing Contest, sponsored by local businesses and the Granby Area Chamber of Commerce.
Granby typically hosts three of these contests each year held on all three of the Lakes, Grand Lake, Shadow Mountain Lake, and Lake Granby generally held for dates scheduled in February, March, and May.

Besides Lake Granby, one of the Three Great Lakes of the Rockies fishing, one can find other great fishing in Willow Creek Reservoir, Wolford Mountain Reservoir, Green Mountain Reservoir, Williams Fork Reservoir, Fraser River, and Colorado River Gold Medal Water.

Snowmobiling
Grand Lake boasts to be the ‘Snowmobile Capital of Colorado.’ The extensive trail system consists of over 300 miles of snowmobile riding with over 150 miles of groomed trails, maintained by the Grand Lake Trailgroomers Snowmobile Club. There are all types of snowmobile terrain for all types of riders from the new comer cruisers to the dead-locked experienced thrashers.
Snowmobile rentals are available for two, four, and eight hour rentals throughout the whole town of Grand Lake. Grand Lake is one of the few places where you can actually ride into town from the trails! Have your camera ready for the herds of elk, wildlife, and all the panoramic views easily accessed with the standard rental agreement.
The Grand Lake trails can be easily accessed without even loading up the rental sleds, making it easy for you and your family to have fun right away. Winter rental clothing is also available depending upon where your rent. Come and have an experience of a lifetime.
