Mission:
The mission of the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra is to present high quality performance of orchestral music and educational outreach activities to the St. Cloud area, to encourage participation by local and area musicians, and to further the understanding and appreciation of orchestral music.
About Us:
The SCSO has been in existence since 1975, providing 30 years of continuous music. The SCSO presents four formal concert programs each year and peforms at the Lemonade Art Fair on the St. Cloud State University campus in conjunction with St. Cloud's summer festival, "Wheels, Wings and Water."
The regular concert series draws 600 patrons to each performance, which includes a dedicated following of 350 season ticket holders. The Lemonade Concert--free to the public--is attended by over 900.
SCSO performs major works and accompanies national and international guest artists. SCSO audiences continually report their satisfaction with the artistic quality of the organization.
Members of our orchestra are predominantly from the St. Cloud area and other Central Minnesota communities. A small number of contract musicians come from the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. More than half of the members of the orchestra are faculty, staff, alumni and students of area colleges and universities.
Other participants include community amateur musicians, talented high school students, and a few professionals brought in to serve special needs. Continued performance of great literature serves as a learning tool and leads to the development of individual skills and musicality among the performers.
