MISSION & VALUES

The South Shore YMCA is a not-for-profit association of individuals dedicated to improving the quality of life for all through programs that promote healthy spirit, mind, and body.  Rooted in Christian tradition and values, the YMCA seeks to serve all people, regardless of age, gender, race, religion, or economic circumstances.

Our vision is to be a place where everyone has the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive through our services and programs. We are always striving to enrich our member experience and foster a sense of community through inclusion and outreach.  We continue to strengthen our volunteer and financial resources, and our internal operations to manage current needs and support future growth.

The South Shore YMCA involves more than 60,000 members and participants, nearly two-thirds of whom are children and teens, in more than 100 different programs.  Emphasizing the four core character development values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, we are committed to strengthening our communities by nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility.

Together we will continue to make a difference in the lives of thousands of area children and families as we transform our vision into an ongoing reality.  Together we will continue to make dreams come true for individuals from all walks of life, all abilities, all economic circumstances, all ages, and all ethnicities.
