SC Children's Theatre Live Performances

Celebrating 26 years, SC Children's Theatre performances continue to provide the finest live theatre experience to the Upstate community. Young people and adults have the opportunity to work with talented directors, choreographers and musicians, as well as the chance to be on stage at the Peace Center, a state-of-the-art performance venue. Family members and other volunteers graciously assist behind the scenes constructing and painting sets, making props and sewing costumes, giving everyone a chance to become a "part of the magic."

Conservatory for Theatre Arts

SCCT is more than a performance theatre. Our Conservatory for Theatre Arts is a professional teaching facility offering year-round education in the dramatic arts, to young people ages 3 - 18. Our highly trained and diversely talented faculty follows national standards, designing classes to develop performance, communication, cooperation, self-discipline, and critical thinking skills.

Theatre Outreach

Perhaps the least known of SC Children's Theatre endeavors is our Theatre Outreach Programs (TOPS). TOPs provides dramatic arts educational opportunities at no cost to at-risk, disadvantaged, hospitalized, and special needs children. Established in 1996, TOPS includes artistic residencies at Title 1 elementary schools and different medical facilities throughout the Upstate, scholarships to our Conservatory programs, complimentary tickets to SCCT performances, outreach performances in the community, and character appearances. Launched in 2002, KNOW WAY is another component of SCCT's outreach, using drama as a tool to help young people with social issues and encourage better choices.

Kindermusik

SCCT is also home to Kindermusik of Greenville, available for children newborn to age 7. An international music education program designed by early childhood education specialists, classes integrate music, movement, singing, dance and structured play that develop physical coordination and enhance verbal and critical thinking skills.

Mission

The mission of the South Carolina Children's Theatre is to educate and stimulate the minds and imaginations of young people and their families through participation in high-quality theatre, year-round education, and accessible outreach.
