About :
A 40 Acre plot of land has been cleared for the Shawnee Bluff Vineyard. Located approximately seven miles from the winery, right off Hwy 54 at Meads Flats is the site destined to grow several different kinds of grapes to be used in the production of the wine.
The planting of the vineyard should be no surprise. Unbeknownst to many locals, Missouri once led the nation as the number one state producing the most volume of wine. During the 1880s and into the 20th century, Missouri was well known for its almost perfect climate and soil for vineyards. Prohibition put a temporary stop to the wine industry in Missouri but it is now making a comeback in a big way.
At the vineyard location, an existing 5,000 sq ft. building has been refurbished to offer still another reception, event and party venue for up to 300 guests that include a groom's area, a large area for brides and attendants, new restrooms and a kitchen with a long wine tasting bar area. This facility will also be the warehouse end of the business with walls of wine barrels and unique furnishings. Outside in the midst of the vineyard will be a lovely landscaped are designed for large or small weddings.
The rustic country setting with its panoramic view of the future vineyard and will include a partially covered outdoor patio and gazebo area as well as an open deck off the back of the building overlooking the valley below.
A separate building will contain the winemaking / bottling unit and an old fashioned still for the making of traditional moonshine. Other events are also anticipated including BBQs, hay rides, live entertainment, casino nights, team building activities, tours, parties to celebrate any occasion, wine making and, of course, wine tasting opportunities. Events may be planned where guests blend their own wines, do blind tastings, vote on the winning blend, and then bottle the winner while everyone gets a bottle with a label that denotes the event.
