Schweitzer Woods

Emily Schweitzer gave a most beautiful gift to her fellow citizens of Kane County. A deed for her 160 acre property arrived at the Forest Preserve in December 1989. It was Emily Schweitzer's wish that the rolling kame and kettle country be preserved as open space. The property has oak forests, crop land, hay meadows and marshes. A beautiful Edwardian house and matching dog kennel are situated in the southeast corner of the property. Miss Schweitzer's only request was to maintain the property as passive open space.
