Sandy Spring Slave Museum and African Art Gallery

18524 Brooke Road
Sandy Spring, MD 20860

The Mission, Purpose and Objectives of the Museum are:

- To focus on the heritage of Blacks from their origin in Africa through the Trans-Atlantic passage, participation with the Underground Railroad, the struggle for civil rights, and their accomplishments across the African Diaspora;

- To bridge the information gap and inform all ethnic groups — particularly those in Montgomery County—about the advantages of cross-cultural communication and diversity, as expressed through the arts and humanities; and

- To display the significant contributions that African/African Americans have made in the building of America.
