San Diego Theatres is a 501(c)3 non-profit, public benefit corporation. We are responsible for the on-going management and operation of the San Diego Civic Theatre. Additionally, upon the restoration and reopening of the historic Balboa Theatre in 2007, San Diego Theatres will be responsible for its management and operation.

Additionally, San Diego Theatres strives to positively impact the community through facility enhancement projects, the advancement of a downtown theatre district, and strategic partnerships for the enrichment of the performing arts for the benefit of the region.

San Diego Theatres was established in 2003 by the San Diego Convention Center Corporation as a subsidiary non-profit corporation. The strategy of San Diego Theatres is to position itself for growth and future independence as a fully independent stand-alone entity. This is a model that will allow us to capitalize on years of service to the community, while advancing into the future with focused determination to proactively improve the performing arts experience for the citizens of the greater San Diego region.

Mission:

San Diego Theatres' mission is to provide world-class theatre-going experiences through its stewardship of professionally-managed venues. The San Diego region will be enriched through our advancement of a vibrant downtown theatre district. San Diego Theatres is ethically driven, fiscally sound, and strategically focused, while fostering an environment that instills advocacy, awareness, and a wide-spread participation in San Diego's performing arts.

Vision:

San Diego Theatres contributes to the region's greatness through effective leadership of performing arts venues. Through strategic partnerships with cultural, civic, business, and governmental entities, San Diego Theatres nurtures and strengthens the spirit, charisma, and vitality of the performing arts and the greater San Diego community. As a result, San Diego Theatres is valued in the region and throughout the international performing arts community.
