Cincinnati Roots

In 1997, Jim purchased the Hudepolh-Schoenling brewery on Central Parkway, Cincinnati, where many generations of Koch brewers had worked. The Samuel Adams Cincinnati Brewery has become our main production brewery for Samuel Adams beers.

The Story of Boston Lager Begins Here In Cincinnati

Jim Koch, a Cincinnati native, approached his father about his idea to create a uniquely American beer that would take on the stale imports being shipped to America. Jim's father gave him the family recipe for the beer that became Boston Lager. Jim brewed this beer on his kitchen stovetop in 1984 and launched what became the American craft beer revolution.

Come in and have a pint!

We're still brewing here and with the opening of the taproom in November of 2018, we have a way to brew small batch, experimental beers that sit well alongside favorites like Boston Lager, Octoberfest, and Wicked Easy.
