The Raccoon Lodge & Brew Pub is a family-friendly restaurant and brew pub located in the Raleigh Hills neighborhood of SW Portland. Named for the numerous masked bandits that once lived on the property, the Raccoon Lodge is designed to resemble a Northwest hunting lodge, boasting high ceilings of rough-hewn timber that complement a massive rustic stone fireplace. The restaurant and brewpub were established in 1998 by Art Larrance, who has been involved in the Oregon craft beer industry since its inception. Art co-founded one of Portland's first microbreweries, Portland Brewing, in Northwest Portland in 1985. Three years later, he created the Oregon Brewers Festival, which today is one of the world's preeminent craft beer festivals.
Art founded the Raccoon Lodge with a goal of providing a warm and friendly atmosphere for families to enjoy the quality food and craft beer brewed on-site. The restaurant's original plans called for sleeping rooms on the third level - hence the "Lodge" portion of the name. The rooms were eventually eliminated from the plan, but the name remained.
The Raccoon Lodge offers comfort food - such as burgers, homemade soups, ribs and delicious entree salads - alongside pub fare like Jambalaya, Beer Battered Fish & Chips and daily specials. It is well known for its selection of French fries - shoestring, ale battered and sweet potato, as well as tater tots and onion rings - and an array of homemade dipping sauces, from Raspberry Habanero to Jalapeno Beer Cheese to Honey Mustard. All of its beers are made on-site at Cascade Brewing under the direction of Head Brewmaster Ron Gansberg, and satisfy a wide range of tastes.
Patrons can dine in the family-friendly upstairs; or, grab a pint with friends in the Den, which features projection HD TVs, the NFL Sunday Ticket, lottery games and pool. The Den overlooks the 10-barrel brewing system and impressive collection of oak barrels belonging to Cascade Brewing. There is also a beautiful outdoor patio and garden for warm-weather dining.
Art, Ron, Managers Lisa Crombie & Kurt Muenter, and Head Chef Jaime Martinez invite you to stop in, sit back, and enjoy our delicious food and esteemed beers.
