The Museum also features the restored homes of our 41st and 43rd Presidents, George H. W. Bush and his son George W. Bush. located on the Museum grounds is one of the homes that both presidents lived in while in Odessa in the late 1940s. In fact, it was truly home to two Presidents and a First Lady. it has been authentically restored to a Christmas morning scene in 1948, and will bring back memories for all "Baby Boomers." The first home of President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, in Midland, is also available to tour by appointment. Both grew up in Midland and remember it fondly.
Fewer experiences have greater impact that an encounter with history. And Odessa's Presidential Museum and Leadership Library is an exceptional repository for presidential portraits, documents, campaign memorabilia, signatures and collectibles that represent each of our country's presidents.
The Museum was conceived as a memorial to the highest office in the land shortly after the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963. Today, it has an outstanding collection of one of a kind exhibits that tell the history of the office in a dramatic, memorable way. Also included at the museum are artifacts of our First Ladies, Vice Presidents, and Presidential Candidates, as well as Presidents of the Republic of Texas and the Confederate States of America.
Its unique collection brings history to life and rekindles our national spirit. The Presidential Museum and Leadership Library collection has gained national recognition as a primary and secondary source of information pertaining to the presidency for students of the office, political science, history and social studies. The research library is an invaluable part of this outstanding museum and is a must see on your visit.
The Museum's Hall of Presidents features an informative and historic journey through time to illustrate the story of the presidency and the leaders who have shaped our country. Touring exhibits pertaining to this country's highest office are also booked when available.
