Our Mission:

PFMHO is dedicated to promoting public awareness of the value of over 1,200 Pennsylvania museums and historical organizations, providing valuable professional development opportunities, serving as the primary network organization for museum professionals and volunteers throughout the Commonwealth, and advocating for strong public support through collaboration with multi-disciplinary statewide partners.

Unsurpassed in serving our membership, the Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Historical Organizations represents the interests of the over 1,000 museums and related organizations throughout the Commonwealth. As their principal advocate, the Federation increases public awareness of the essential roles of museums to enhance the quality of life for Pennsylvania residents and to attract visitors.
The primary networking organization for museum professionals and volunteers in Pennsylvania, the Federation promotes standards of excellence and provides access to a wide range of services needed to advance the development and sustainability of institutions and their staff and volunteers.
The Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Historical Organizations seeks to:
Promote public awareness of the value of museums throughout Pennsylvania.
Assist Pennsylvania museums in meeting generally accepted standards of practice.
Support museum professionals and volunteers in the Commonwealth.
Advocate strong state support of museums and related organizations through collaboration with multi-disciplinary statewide partners.
