About the Peninsula Skating Club
The Peninsula Skating Club is the largest skating club in Silicon Valley.
In 1981, three independent San Francisco Bay Area figure skating clubs joined to form the Peninsula Skating Club. The merger of the Silver Edge Skating Club of Sunnyvale, the Crystal Springs Ice Skating Club of Redwood City, and the El Camino Skating Club of Belmont resulted in a single club of remarkable harmony and energy. Although relatively young by skating standards, the Peninsula Skating Club has a proud history of supporting local, regional and even international competitions. The brightest jewel in Peninsula's crown came in 1992 when PSC hosted the World Championships at the Oakland Coliseum Arena. Then, in 1996, Peninsula hosted the United States Figure Skating Championships at the San Jose Arena.
The backbone of the Peninsula Skating Club is truly the skaters. At the national and international level, Peninsula has a credible list of competitors, including Debi Thomas (in the early stages of her career), Rudy Galindo and Brian Boitano. Each week, Peninsula holds skating sessions at Sharks Ice in San Jose.
