About As
Pankratz Studios And Gallery was conceived in the early 1950's when Richard Pankratz, as a young boy, wanted to be an artist. Richard studied at the Kansas City Art Institute and has earned a Bachelors and Masters degree in art from Emporia Kansas State University. After 12 years of teaching art and making pottery in the evenings and weekends, Richard took a sabbatical from teaching to concentrate on making pottery.
The 5500 square foot building that houses PANKRATZ STUDIOS & GALLERY was custom designed and built in 1991 in beautiful downtown Monument, Colorado. The gallery has an observation room so visitors can watch Richard work on the potters wheel and create the many pots that will soon be on display in the gallery.
Monument, Colorado is nestled at the base of the pine covered foothills of the Rampart Range with a spectacular view of Pikes Peak. The area, noted for its bicycling and hiking trails, is conveniently located on Interstate 25 between Denver and Colorado Springs. The next time you are traveling the interstate, take a break in downtown Monument and visit PANKRATZ STUDIOS & GALLERY and the other shops in the historic section of town. The Gallery is open Monday through Saturday.
