Their passion for brewing started in 2003 when they both worked for Anheuser-Busch breweries; Julia on the operations side and Ken on the brewhouse side. While Julia kept the brewery running efficiently, Ken was supervising the 10,000,000 barrel/year brewhouse and attending the Brewmaster's taste panel learning how to properly taste and quality control beer.
A few years later, they were living in Austin, TX where the local craft beer scene was just starting to rumble. By this time, they were well-immersed in the craft beer movement and would travel across the country to sample beers from their favorite breweries fresh from the source. It didn't take long for them to decide it was time to return to brewing to create their own versions of the fresh, aromatic and flavorful hop-forward West Coast-style beers they had come to love.
Over the last 8 years, they've been crafting and perfecting their beer recipes, all of which were designed from scratch, focusing on quality and consistency. In 2011, they moved back home to Clearwater with the ultimate goal of bringing their high quality West Coast-style craft beers to Tampa Bay's residents to enjoy as they were intended: fresh, local, hoppy and aromatic. The native Floridians paid homage to their home state of Florida with Pair O' Dice Brewing Company, a play on the word "paradise," which is what they called Florida when they were coming home to visit.Â
