About Us :

In 1980, a few arts-minded people got together and decided that they wanted to put on a play for the community. That play was "Sign of the Times." It was enough of a success that it spawned a theatre organization soon to be known as MCTI.

Don Crossland, its first President, designed the Muhlenberg Community Theatre Incorporated logo and MCTI officially came into being. In 1983, a visionary board of directors pioneered and purchased the old Palace Theatre in Greenville to be MCTI's permanent home. Shows were performed intermittently there and at other sites until 1989 when the first regular season of four shows began.

Shortly after that, MCTI went to its present five production season. In 1994, the summer musical was withdrawn in favor of making much needed repairs to the sagging stage; and in 1998, major renovations were made to the house, the lobby, and the front of the building. In 2007 the theatre added on the former Dempsey's Kids Shop building and has established a smaller performance area called The Cabaret Room.  There are plans to offer Dinner Theatre in the Cabaret Room as well as smaller productions.

MCTI has been the recipient of a number of honors over the years, and is one of the top community theatres in Western Kentucky.

The arts in Muhlenberg County have gone through some very positive changes including a Partnership with the Felix E. Martin Jr. Hall. This new partnership allows for some of the MCTI productions each year to be held in this state of the art educational venue.  Our gratitude is expressed to all who helped make this possible.  We feel this relationship with the Felix E. Martin Jr. Hall and its staff will allow even more opportunities for MCTI to offer the community quality productions, as well as allow for further growth.
