Majestic Scenery
When most people think of activity choices in Glacier Bay Alaska, they don't normally think of golfing, but this course located on the flatlands of Gustavus is changing that notion. It's location is simply magical.
Surrounded by snowcapped mountains ON ALL SIDES, with several holes bordering Icy Straits, it can truly classify as one of the world's most magnificent courses.
A PRO 9 hole course, it's par is 36 strokes. For those that prefer, both men's and womens Tee's are rated at different yardage and each hole clearly marked with its particulars. Complete with many of the standard golf course obstacles such as ditches, water hazards, sand traps, and lots of rough off the greens, this course will challenge even the best qualified golfers.
Fairways are clean and mowed, and the greens are in good shape with challenging landscaped curves and planes. There are also future plans for development of an additional 9 holes, but it could be a few seasons yet.
Uncrowded
Uncrowded, most golfers will encounter very little waiting times at the Mt. Fairweather Golf Course.Caddies and carts are available, however, due to its wonderful scenery and unrushed atmosphere, the majority of golfers happily walk the course.
If you prefer to take a few practice swings or drives before trying the course, there is a fine driving range located nearby the clubhouse, and only a few yards from the 1st hole Tee.
