About Us:
Founded in 1920 and incorporated in 1934 as a non-profit, non-promotional organization, the purpose of MMSC was to provide, maintain and improve skiing facilities on Mt. Mansfield. The combined efforts and enthusiasm of the founding members formed the cornerstone of what is now a thriving mountain community.
A hike through Ranch Valley and up the newly cut Bruce Trail or up Toll Road was the best way to the top. Then down to Ranch Camp. The Ranch, was the original home of MMSC. Spurred on by the dedication and talents of Sepp Ruschp and CV Starr, MMSC grew into an amateur ski organization which served as the official sponsor of sanctioned competitive events.
MMSC's Junior Skiing Program began in 1951 as an after school activity for children with an interest in skiing. In 1999 competitive Snowboarding was added and the club became Mount Mansfield Ski and Snowboard Club. The Junior Program has grown each year, now offering ski racing and snowboarding coaching to over 220 young athletes. The roster of MMSC athletes includes an impressive number of Olympians, USSA team members as well as NCAA, X-Games and USCSA competitors.
The primary purpose of the Mt. Mansfield Ski Club is to support competitive ski racing and snowboarding. While providing an environment in which young athletes learn the sport of ski racing and/or snowboarding in an enjoyable, supportive manner that encourages personal growth and fulfillment, not only as athletes, but as human beings. By setting and then achieving realistic but challenging goals, athletes learn the reward of hard work, dedication, and self-discipline. It is a complete team effort that involves coaches, athletes, and parents. The spirit of cooperation embraced by the Mt. Mansfield Ski and Snowboard Club, encourages and fosters self-confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance in all participating athletes.

While ski competition is a major focus of our club, we also invite recreational skiers and riders to become an active part of our dynamic organization. General Membership allows full access to our private ski-in, ski-out clubhouse at the base of Big Spruce, as well as an open invitation to many fun and exciting outings and get-togethers such as barbecues and ski trips.
