Today, the MBUSI plant has buildings with more than 4 million square feet located on 1,000 acres. Besides Body, Paint, and Assembly shops, also located on the Tuscaloosa site are a comprehensive training facility, a visitor center and a childcare and wellness center. The Mercedes-Benz Visitor Center, which houses entertaining exhibits detailing the history of Mercedes-Benz -- including its products, technology and commitment to safety -- is open to the public. Since opening in mid-1997, over 230,000 people have toured the visitor center and plant.

The Tuscaloosa plant currently represents a $2 billion(+) investment for its parent company, Daimler AG.  MBUSI currently employs about 2,800 Team Members and the plant in 2012 produced approximately 182,000 vehicles, which are exported to more than 135 countries. 

MBUSI, based in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, has built more than 1.5 million (and counting) world-class Mercedes-Benz vehicles and is nearly into the third chapter of its life, creating new products and further expanding its impact on Tuscaloosa and Alabama.
