More than 10,000 years of rich, cultural history thrives at Medicine Lodge amongst the endless outdoor recreation opportunities. Wildlife viewing and opportunities for adventure are amongst the best in the state.

Activities & Amenities:

Biking

Medicine Lodge offers multiple mountain bike trails, both maintained and unmaintained.

Campsites For Tents & RVs

Medicine Lodge offers 28 individual campsites, all of which are compatible with motorhomes, 5th wheels, travel trailers, or tents. Five of the 28 sites are reservable and the remaining is all first come-first served. 1 campsite is handicap accessible.

Fishing

More than 5 miles of Medicine Lodge Creek is accessible from the park with several other walk-in areas within a short drive. Medicine Lodge Creek is abundant with brown trout and is accessible year-round. Other native species of trout can be located nearby the park in Paintrock Creek and the Paintrock Lakes.

Stream fishing is outstanding in Medicine Lodge Creek for brown trout. Both fly and traditional spin tackle does well, especially in early summer and late fall. Wyoming Game and Fish Department regulations do apply.

Hiking

Tens of thousands of acres of public land adjoin Medicine Lodge are open to hiking and await your adventurous spirit. Hiking trails within the park cover approximately 2 miles, while trails that are accessible from our location exceed 10 miles in length.

Horseback Riding

Horseback riding in and around Medicine Lodge is outstanding and has been featured in Trail Rider Magazine and other national publications. Access to trails, and open-country riding, on tens of thousands of acres of public land adjoins the park.

Hunting

Hunting in the surrounding area is outstanding for deer, elk, pronghorn, and small game. Thousands of acres of public land open to hunting adjoin Medicine Lodge, however, the discharge of firearms or other projectile devices is prohibited within the park.

Off Road Vehicles

Medicine Lodge makes one of the best ORV basecamps in Wyoming. Access to hundreds of miles of BLM and Forest Service roads and trails is at your disposal.

Picnic Areas

Medicine Lodge has a dedicated, day use only picnic day with 4 picnic tables. Visitors may also picnic in unoccupied campsites.

Playgrounds

Two playgrounds are available.

Skiing & Snowshoeing

Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at Medicine Lodge is breathtaking. Dry Fork Canyon offers 3 miles of incredible scenery while on skis or snowshoes. Warm up in our library afterward!

Snowmobiles

Snowmobiling from Medicine Lodge to the surrounding areas can be amazing. Groomed trails are within 16 rideable miles and ungroomed trails adjoin the park.

Swimming

Swimming and wading in the cool waters of Medicine Lodge Creek is an incredible summertime experience.

Wildlife Viewing

Medicine Lodge has outstanding wildlife viewing and is home to deer, elk, bighorn sheep, mink, mountain lion, wild turkey and more than 100 species of birds.

Winter Sports

Medicine Lodge is an outstanding location for winter sports including cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and sledding.
