Once an Indian Reservation is now one of the most unusual, affordable and challenging championship golf courses in North Central Florida.
Meadowbrook Golf Club is not your typical Florida golf course, nothing flat or boring about this layout. It’s rolling hills, tree lined fairways and running streams create an atmosphere that almost suggests you are in the North Carolina Mountains rather than ten minutes from downtown Gainesville.
Designed by world renowned golf course architect Steve Smyers, Meadowbrook has the distinction of being the first course he built. Smyers kept nature in mind while routing the course by leaving natural ponds, streams and valleys as obstacles. In fact, Golf Digest ranked Meadowbrook as the best built course in North Florida in 1987. Adding to this natural beauty the course is also teeming with wildlife including cranes, foxes and hawks.
You’ll enjoy six marvelous par threes, six strategic par fours and six challenging par fives. Meadowbrook is known as a placement course with tight fairways and lots of angulations. All these factors combined are what make Meadowbrook a beautiful and relaxing place to play golf.
While the phrase “you’ll use every club in your bag” is used at many clubs, at Meadowbrook it’s true. While the course will provide a challenge for any good player from the back “Gator Orange and Blue” tees it’s equally enjoyable for the novice from the front tees. While the terrain and picturesque beauty of the course alone make Meadowbrook a “must play,” the condition of the course will keep you coming back. At Meadowbrook you will find not only the most challenging greens in Northern Florida but the fastest as well.
