Mission:

The Mattawoman Creek Art Center is a not-for-profit organization seeking to encourage the practice and appreciation of the visual arts in the Southern Maryland community by:

- Maintaining and operating a permanent facility to provide exhibition and studio/workshop space for working artists
- Introducing new art forms, concepts, and ideas through innovative programming
- Perpetuating a sense of community among artists by the application of policies and procedures which will facilitate a free exchange of ideas among artists and the broader community
- Programming workshops, lectures, demonstrations, films, and seminars with professional artists for participants of all ages, levels of experience, and artistic involvement
- Presenting exhibits of regional, national, and international art
- Providing a space for civic and social events in a setting enhanced by art
