About Us

In 2002, seeing a need to restore, preserve and grow downtown they applied to become a Main Street community. Marshalltown is now one of the 40 plus communities across Iowa who are apart of this elite association of Main Street communities. 

MCBD is ran by a volunteer board of business owners, community members, and business professionals. Jenny Etter serves as the executive director. Since our beginning, our volunteers have put in over 55,000 hours to make sure our programs, events and members are continuing to best serve and influence to grow and better our downtown. 

MCBD Mission: 

Through broad-based representation and strong public/private partnership, we will continuously enhance Marshalltown’s central business district creating Central Iowa’s first choice location for businesses, residents, shoppers, diners and visitors.

MCBD Vision: 

Marshalltown’s Central Business District, a Main Street Community, is the heartbeat of the city, producing civic, cultural, social, retail, and heritage events for the community.  The CBD will always provide a safe, warm and welcoming venue for nurturing commerce, greater fellowship, continuous learning, and social harmony.  The Marshalltown CBD is a source of civic pride, driving a well-planned roadmap to continuously improve the community environment while preserving our past.  Our historic Marshalltown CBD thrives on the efforts, passion and commitment of the people and businesses that populates its streets.
