Lester Lorch Nature Preserve, 86 acres of trees, meadows and creeks, provides a unique experience for area visitors. Donated in 1976 by the Lorch family, the preserve became the first in Dallas County's open space program and is a popular destination in Cedar Hill.
The preserve features a 5-acre pond, perfect for recreational fishing, and an open play area for children with two nearby picnic tables. A 2.5-mile trail winds through the woods and provides a glimpse of the natural beauty characteristic of the area.
One of the most popular attractions of the preserve is the challenging 36-hole disc golf course, a favorite of casual players and tournament competitors alike. The first tee of the Beaver Course is adjacent to the paved parking area and the Coyote Course tees off across the pond.
