Legion State Park

635 Legion State Park Road
Louisville, MS 39339

662-773-8323

The fourth of the original state parks developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps, Legion State Park remains as unspoiled today as when the Choctaw Indian Nation first inhabited the area centuries ago. Hidden in the red hill country of Mississippi, Legion State Park strikes the perfect balance of natural beauty and modern comfort, with all man-made structures in the park designed to complement the pristine beauty of the area. Of particular interest is Legion Lodge, a hand-hewn log structure that has remained unaltered since its construction in the 1930s.

Developed Camping
The 15 sites available for RV camping feature water, sewer and electrical hook-ups, picnic tables, and grills. A bathhouse featuring hot showers is located in the RV Campground. All sites are available for advance reservations. Smoking is not allowed in any Mississippi government building.

Tent Camping
Tent camping is permitted in a designated primitive camping area. A new bathhouse featuring hot showers is located nearby in the RV Campground.

Vacation Cabins
Legion State Park features five air-conditioned vacation cabins located in a heavily wooded area. Each cabin is equipped with bed and bath linens and basic kitchen equipment and features a stone fireplace. Smoking is not allowed in any Mississippi government building.

Picnic Area/Pavilion
Legion State Park's picnic area features tables, grills, and picnic shelters. A large picnic pavilion, available by reservation, provides the ideal setting for family reunions, company picnics, or church or school gatherings. The picnic shelters are "first-come", "first-serve".

Nature Trail
A 1.6 mile nature trail encircles Lake Toppasha providing a close look at native birds, plants, and wildlife.

Playground
Playground equipment is also available at the Park.

Fishing and Boating
Lake Toppasha is 12 acres and Lake Palila is 4 acres. Both lakes offer fishing in a beautiful wooded setting. Both lakes are stocked with bass and bream. A Mississippi fishing license is required for all persons between the ages of 16 and 65. Licenses may be purchased from the park office for a nominal fee.
