About:
Bob Lautenbach loves his family and the land that he grew up on. This is why Lautenbach’s Orchard Country Winery & Market has become a family affair.
Located on 100 acres of blossoming orchards and lush vineyards in Door County, the business is owned and operated by Bob and his two daughters Carrie Lautenbach-Viste and Erin Lautenbach.
“Our working fruit farm is very important to us,” says Erin. “We’ve been producing quality fruit products since 1955.” The popular fruits include cherries, apples, grapes, raspberries and pears. The family works year-round maintaining the property and business. “We enjoy sharing all facets of the operations with our guests – from planting and harvesting to crafting the juices and wines,” adds Carrie.
Established in 1985, the winery resides in a restored dairy barn and produces most of its award-winning wines from fruits grown on the property. The types of wines available for complimentary tasting and purchase range from dry to sweet, including sparkling and spiced.
Producing wine is more than a business to Bob. He wants them to reflect the pride he has in his family and the grounds that produce them. This is why he named the first estate-grape wines after his grandchildren. “I wanted the series to be special,” he says. “And it gives my grandchildren a place in the business too. They love picking fresh fruit and walking throughout the property.”
In addition to the winery, the family also runs a spacious farm market, established in 1975. The family has worked with many family producers over the years, and today offers hundreds of locally grown and produced products. Visitors can enjoy fresh bakery including cherry pie, along with artisan cheese, jams and preserves, salsas and sauces, pie fills, wine accessories, gifts, and more.
